Role

Description of work

Academic work

I am currently Head of Psychology for a company who deliver degrees by distance learning (much like the Open Uni). These degrees are validated by the University of East London (UEL). I act as the academic link between the company, UEL and over 30 tutors. I am also a module leader for research methods and statistics modules. This involves: writing study guides and exam papers; marking; tutoring students over the internet; and ensuring study guides and assessments are of an appropriate standard.

Advisor

Was invited by the European Commission to take part in a Working Group which aimed to improve the 'Community Research & Development Information Service (CORDIS)'

Data analysis of a survey

I provided data analysis, and a written report, of a public consultation survey on behalf of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). I completed this on a voluntary basis because I am a member of the RSPB.

Data analysis of educational data

I provided data analysis of educational data from Kenyan and Nigerian primary schools.

Training and data analysis

I have done quite a bit of work for a leading, blue-chip company over the past few years. I have:

  • Provided training in statistics and research methods;
  • Analysed the psychometric properties of several questionnaires;
  • Analysed raw data relating to the recruitment of headteachers; 'classroom climate'; and the 'Leadership Programme for Serving Headteachers'.
